In November 2010 It was formed the Museum Network and the Natural Belicina, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between municipalities, foundations, associations and cultural institutions located in the territory Belicino in a territory that includes 14 common between the provinces of Agrigento, Trapani and Palermo.
The Association Museum Network and the Natural Belicina was formed in March 2012 and, the current state, It includes all the museums of the municipalities of Valle del Belice. Public Partners: Camporeale, Castelvetrano, Contessa Entellina, Gibellina, Menfi, Partanna, Poggioreale, Roccamena, Salaparuta, Salemi, Sambuca di Sicilia, Santa Margherita Belice, Santa Ninfa and Life; Private Members: Nature Reserves (Santa Ninfa Cave and Cave Entella), Foundation Orestiadi Gibellina, the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy (UNPLI – sez. I'm, also, Honorary members of the Network, The following institutions: Archaeological Park of Segesta, Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave of Cusa (by resolution of the regional manager to cultural heritage) and the Diocesan Museum of Mazara del Vallo.
From the earliest meetings, It was cultured in all the feeling of the necessity of having to travel such a way, given the current fragility of museums that, in addition to having to operate with meager funds, serving the lack of a concrete cultural project and common development.
The Network was created with the specific aim of telling a story, that is not only that the individual places but of all the countries that are - culturally and socially - Valle del Belice, with the aim of reflecting on the concepts of "belonging" and of "community".
The history of ancient arts, the landscape and its natural and geomorphological changes, the analysis of the cultural identity of each community and in particular to this heritage plus the drama of the earthquake, the reconstruction of the earthquake-stricken city that determined the '"encounter" with the great masters of contemporary art with their works have reconfigured the Sicily (think of the "Cretto" by Alberto Burri, Gibellina), or what is left of the urban realities disappeared in the valley of Belice (the ruins of Poggioreale and / or those of Salaparuta), contemporary art donated by the great masters. History and collections already told and documented in some museums strongly structured and records and other newly established.
It was considered, therefore, from a careful sharing, started in 2010, done in this area by volunteers of Legambiente with the campaign SalvalarteBelìce, need to create a museum system (which also includes the architectural and landscape of Belice) aimed at promoting and protecting the assets of the territorial area of the Valle del Belice, dissolving the classic knots administrative and "institutional barriers" that, in recent decades, They have substantially removed the community from a correct and fruitful use of places of culture and "sites of memory" when history was experienced and, indirectly, written.
If you, so, awareness that only through a network of museums you can exceed the limit for a significant enhancement of the rich and invaluable heritage spread in Belice.
The Museum Network and the Natural is Belicina, today, a tool specifically "built" by combining the small museums of Belize with the reserves and archaeological parks regional, with the knowledge that the collective reasoning and meeting opportunities offer additional opportunities to create new territorial strategies, enhancing memory, the beauty and heritage of these places (over 20 structures 14 common).

The idea is that of a collective involvement of the territory with the institutions, and then to work for a unique museum of the territory of Belice (museum system), that, from the poles of attraction Regional Archaeological Park of Segesta and the Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave of Cusa, with the presence of visitors equal to 300.000 and 250.000 about the 2014, It can offer tourists a vast territory accessible and equipped, as a new museum system, consisting of a cultural heritage for all, corroborated by different specificities: << The two parks in Western Sicily, two nature reserves, The Museo delle Trame Mediterranee, the new Gibellina and contemporary art, archeology minor with a rich heritage of prehistory, the museum of the Leopard, the Diocesan Museum of Mazara del Vallo, two museums that tell the memory of the reconstruction of the earthquake and, the old centers in ruins>>. It is a large area that has always had, for different reasons, links with the ancient city of Selinunte and Segesta.
The network consists of different subjects, for museum collection and / or cultural interests and historical, It has cross-cutting themes common to many participating museums, that often intertwine the different municipalities: "Places the Leopard, art and contemporary architecture, the prehistory of the Low Belice, archeology, anthropology and not least the memory of the 1968 earthquake "; all subjects whose essential elements return an overall reading of the Belice Valley, of history, dell’arte, material culture, architecture and landscape of the Lower Belice, enabling knowledge, the preservation and enhancement.
